April 6th

Justus season ended at the State tournament. He finished strong and on a personal level this was his best season to date.  He is focusing on his academics and will take the ACT for the first time this Saturday. He is getting ready to attend the prospects tournament and will be attending some JR try outs over the summer.

February 3rd

Justus has been playing very strong and has really stepped up in several games.  He held Shattuck St Mary (#2 team in the country) to one goal out of 38 shots to help his team tie the game.  He posted a shut out against the Chicago Mission (#12) for a 3-0 win. He has gone in several times half way through the game to help out the team in addition to his regular starts.  He has had 28 starts and played in 34 games.

Justus took his SAT test for the first time last week and hopefully he scored well. He will take them again at least one more time before the end of the school year. He will also be taking his ACT test.  He is taken advanced classes, and while we wish he was more diligent in his studying, he is passing. He will really need to buckle down if he wants to have a lot of choices for College.

November 28th

Justus has been steadily improving on his over all game. He is able to maintain a 90 save percent in most games or better, which is important at this level. Consistency is the name of the game.  Justus has really stepped up his game over the last month and he now has an advisor that will help him get to the JR and collegiate level.

The team has steadily been improving and are now above .500 in the win column.  They have a lot of speed and individual talent. They are coming together and getting better at playing as a team. This last week they beat a team 5-1,  which they had previously lost to twice.

The team is currently in 2nd place n league play and after beating the number 1 team, St Louis Blues, have broken the 6 year curse of losing to the Blues.

Justus is slowly understanding the importance of studying and putting in more preparation to get the grades for College. Some days are better than others.

October 2nd,

Justus finished his second weekend of games very strong. Saturday he posted his first shut out of the season and this morning he give up one goal a two on one.  He is playing with a lot of confidence and is assuming a leadership role.  The team will be heading down to Indiana this weekend for the USHL/MAHL showcase.

September 18th,

Justus finished his first tournament weekend strong. He kept CYA, from Chicago, scoreless in the final game until the third period when he just missed getting a glove on the puck.  The team got their first win today with the 5-1 victory over the Chicago team.  Justus turned away 27 of the 28 shots in the game.

The Capitols took a one goal lead in the first period and fought off a second period of penalties before the CYA team got on the scoreboard in the third period. The Caps came back and scored 4 unanswered goals with the help of a stupid penalty on the part of Chicago that put them a man down for 5 minutes.

This was the final game of a four game tournament.  They lost their first three games but considering this is only the second week this team has been together, they did fairly well.

September 1st,

Justus had his first practice of the season.  Over all he did very well. He is trying to get used to his pads which is always a fun experience.  It hasn't helped that the pads have had some quality issues. Straps have broken, stitching has come undone, and the toe laces have broken several times.

He will be playing in his first tournament this month.  IT will be a good gauge of where his team will do for the season. Hockey Scouting News is going to be writing an article on Justus hopefully later this week.  They have asked for video footage of him once the season starts so that is exciting.

This season could be a make or break season for Justus and he will really have to show his talent to the coaches and the scouts to move to the next level.

On to other Justus news. He started 11th grade and so far is enjoying the experience.  He is talking an AP class and hopes to take the test for college credit in May.

His truck is being painted in Texas and should be complete in the next few weeks.
